SARJIT KALHA

Former Professor and Head of the English Department, Sarjit Kalha retired as the Principal of GCG Chandigarh. She is an avid reader and her passion for literature continues, as she spends her time attending recitals and theatre performances, and is an active member of her book club. Chandigarh, India.

INDU SINGH

A witty, gifted, freelance artist who is a social bird and a loving aunt. After working as an art teacher for over 20 years, Indu Singh retired a few years ago and now enjoys spending her time painting and being with her friends and family. Chandigarh, India.

RISHI

For over 30 years Rishi has been working in the textile industry. Up until 20 years ago, he was working side by side with his father. Now he owns his own tailor shop: Rishi Tailors. Families all over town flock to Rishi, knowing that he can do the impossible. He always says, “It can be done.” Chandigarh, India.

RADHA MAHLI

A housekeeper who left her village at a young age to support her family. Kindhearted, a loving friend, and a second mother. Chandigarh, India.

KARAMJEET SINGH

A former tea planter and a proud grandfather of six. Now leading a life of retirement, he spends his time playing cards and sipping chai to his heart’s content. He misses his regular golf sessions, and chatting with his friends on the 19th hole. Chandigarh, India.

HARMINDER KULBIR SINGH

Throughout her life, Harminder Singh has been a strong, determined fighter. Being a former National Athlete, her physical training taught her mental discipline and to never give up her goals. She stood by this motto when she decided to leave her job as a teacher to become an entrepreneur as a Jewelry Designer in order to provide for her family. She continues to run her business and is now a grandmother of two. New Delhi, India.

KRISHAN KUMAR

Krishan has been a driver for the last 14 years, and recently became a chauffeur for Aozora. He works day and night to support his wife and two sons. New Delhi, India.

KULBIR SINGH

Kulbir worked for 40 years as a First Class Officer for the Indian Civil Services and retired as a Secretary to Ministry of Railways. He is a voracious reader, kindhearted, and an IT fanatic. He now keeps in touch with his two granddaughters, constantly exchanging emails about school work and keeping each other in the loop. New Delhi, India.
